Prepositions are words that specify place, direction, and time. A preposition links nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in a sentence . A preposition usually indicates the temporal, spatial or logical relationship of its object to the rest of the sentence. A preposition will tell 3 things which is:
· Location
· Timing
· Direction
1. Prepositions of location.
Preposition of location are used to indicate locations or position of objects. Example:
a) I am sitting on a chair.
b) I am living at Kelantan.
c) The ball is in front of the box.
2. Prepositions of time.
Prepositions of time are used to shows when things happen. For example:
a) School starts at nine o’clock.
b) We’re going to the zoo on Saturday.
c) I’ll do my homework before dinner.
3. Prepositions of direction.
Some prepositions show where something is going. They are called prepositions of direction.
a) The boys chased after each other.
b) The football rolled down the hill.
c) The cat jumped into the box.
